Recommendation for cyber security with ISO-15118

The new ISO 15118 standard for communication between electric vehicles and charging stations provides for the security of charging transactions (authorization request, tracking and control of charging, etc.) with certificates identifying the objects (vehicle, charging point, service contract, etc.) involved in these transactions. These certificates implement a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).

In preparation for the deployment of this standard, AFIREV analysed the possible organisations of this architecture and the methods of distributing and integrating certificates into objects. On the criterion of ensuring a robust organisation and guaranteeing an open market (without dominant player or barrier to the entry of new players), an analysis and recommendations document is published.

This recommendation will guide international discussions and work to agree on practical arrangements for the implementation of ISO 15118.
